Every year, 3,482 pairs of unsuspecting socks* are maliciously attacked by an obscure but rising threat:
THE INTERIOR SNOW PUDDLE.
It seems so innocent. One person walks inside with snow on his boots and tracks it across the carpet...a huge snow-pas (similar to a faux-pas, but colder). The snow melts silently…and the cold, icy water remains.
Another person, this one considerate of the indoor flooring and absorbent foot apparel of his peers, takes his boots off and leaves them by the door. He adjusts the toe of his sock to fit comfortably and walks inside, closing the door behind himself. This unsuspecting individual, eyes focused on the room ahead, lets out a yell loud enough to knock the corncob pipe and button nose off the face of a well-crafted snowman. His left sock-covered foot narrowly escapes the invisible puddle of nearly melted snow. His right extremity is not so lucky...
He steps down with confidence, the bottom of his right sock instantaneously becoming saturated with frozen, slushy water. His instant reflex is to pull his foot away from the place of attack, but it’s already too late. His sock is wet beyond dry. He is left with no choice but to remove the sock completely and consider the possibility of running a load of laundry or bearing the olfactory ‘wet foot.’
Don’t let this happen to you. Keep your eyes out for these puddles. They can be elusive, blending into their surroundings, but if you know the signs, you can avoid them.
Be proactive–don’t make a snow-pas. Follow the instructions on the Do Your Part page and do what you can for the movement for dry socks. If action is not taken immediately, as many as one million socks could be prematurely sent to the washing machine THIS WINTER ALONE.*
Here are a few testimonials from actual victims::
“It's a little known fact that I was well on my way to being an Olympic Ping Pong champion (ranked #7 internationally as an 8-year-old) until a freak interior snow puddle accident at my Aunt's house broke my wrist and effectively ended my quest to rule the table top. Ever since then I've been vigilant about eradicating interior snow puddles at home, at school and at work. Thank you for the amazing (& brave) work you are doing to raise awareness about this invisible thief of childhood dreams.”

“It's really hard when you have pets and someone leaves a puddle on your floor. Not only do you have to take your wet sock off, but you also have to smell it to make sure it's actually a snow puddle and not a urine puddle. That's not fun for anyone. ”

“I didn’t know what to do. I was stuck with one wet sock and one dry…and I was visiting a friend’s house. I don’t keep clean socks at my friends’ houses. This can’t happen anymore. Something needs to be done.”

“I lost my big toenail in a freak marathon accident and it was waggling out for everyone to see. It was embarrassing and I blame the interior snow puddle!”

“I thought everyone had taken their shoes off. I THOUGHT EVERYONE HAD TAKEN THEIR SHOES OFF…”
